Stabbing victim alive
A woman is recovering well after being stabbed multiple times at an Orewa address on Saturday night.
A 47-year-old Orewa woman survived serious injuries and is recovering in Auckland Hospital after a man allegedly stabbed her multiple times.
The man was arrested and appeared in North Shore District Court charged with attempted murder and was remanded in custody until March 4.
Detective Sergeant Scott Armstrong says police were called to a residential address at about 8pm on Hibiscus Coast Highway.
"The incident involved two parties. A female victim received a number of stab wounds and was taken to hospital by ambulance where she underwent surgery and is now recovering.
"A man was arrested without further incident at the scene. He is a 42 year-old Orewa man.
"The two were known to each other."
Police wouldn't comment on the nature of their relationship. The weapon was recovered at the scene.
Forensic experts examined the site. North Shore CIB and Orewa CIB are investigating.
Police are not seeking further information from the public.
"The incident is completely unrelated to the Hells Angels bike run who were in Orewa at the time."
