WWII vet completes census forms online
At 101 years old, Connell Thode could be the oldest person in New Zealand to complete the census online.
The former World War II submarine commander filled in his census form with a bit of help last Thursday at his Okura home.
District supervisor Harvey Livschitz helped Mr Thode with the process and says he is a cheerful man with a ready smile.
"It was a real privilege to be able to share this unique experience with Mr Thode, and learn a bit about New Zealand history," Mr Livschitz says.
More than 60 per cent of Rodney and Hibiscus Coast residents will have received their forms by now. Deliveries will continue until March 5.
If you have not received your forms by March 5 phone 0800 CENSUS (0800 236 787).
