A 15 hectare residential development of 400 people with a further 109 homes under construction has won three awards at the international property industry's equivalent of the Oscars.

Kensington Park in Orewa scored best residential development, best marketing and best architecture for multiple residences in the 2014-15 Asia Pacific Property Awards.

The awards will be presented to Kensington Park representatives at a summit and gala ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on May 8 and 9.

The company scored a similar triple in 2008.

Highest scoring winners go on to compete against other winning countries for the world's best in each category.

Kensington Park, developed by Southpark Group under John Sax, has seen 220 dwellings completed with a further 500 to be built. Great attention is paid to complementary architecture, colours and design but what we are really building is a great community, Kensington Park development manager Dan Ogle says.

Much of the design is directed to creating great streetscapes, community gathering spaces and events so neighbours become friends, he says.
