Delivering news and advertising solutions directly to the community is where the Rodney Times excels, says sales manager Pauline Caley.
"Different media are opening up, but there's one unique and continuing truth for newspapers - people still like to hold on to a publication and read it." And that is never more true than in the local news sector - where local newspapers are often the only source of information about what's going on close to home.
With an audited readership of 73,000 the Rodney Times knows exactly how many readers it has - so you know exactly how many people you are advertising to. As well as being unashamedly local, the Rodney Times has all the advantages of metropolitan and national media. "We are part of the Auckland Suburban Communities Newspaper group which is a division of Fairfax media, New Zealand's largest media company," says Pauline.
"We offer advertisers the benefits of advertising across the city and country, which is a fantastic service for many of the companies selling and distributing goods and services nationwide from the Rodney area.
Pauline, originally from West Auckland has been an Orewa Resident for six years and is really enjoying working within her own community. "My role at the Rodney Times has reunited me with the editor Geoff Dobson, as we worked together 20 years ago at the Western Leader. It's brilliant being back working with businesses because it's our job to help them grow. Geoff and I are both passionate about doing the best we can for our customers, be they advertisers or readers. He and I go way back and I'm really pleased to be working with such a great team. The Rodney Times is a terrific newspaper serving a great community and it's exciting to be part of that." And she shares that dedication with a motivated team of journalists and sales consultants who spend their days making sure they deliver for the Rodney region.
