At the annual Maori Bay Junior surfers’ prizegiving, trophies were awarded based on the results of seven separate events held throughout the year, for surfers under the age of 16.

Overall top boys junior surfer was Wade Kindred, who also won the under-14 division and the Quiksilver- sponsored series King of the Groms trophy. The runner-up was Jordy Cole.

Ruby Meade in only her second year of competitive surfing convincingly took the overall girls prize. She also won the Quiksilver Queen of the Groms series.

The runnerup was Billie Fairchild-Mc-Kelvie who also won the under-14 division plus the trophy for most improved on ratings.

The under 12 boy’s series winner was Blake Haven and Millie Crewe took out the the girl’s prize by a small margin plus the most promising trophy.

The most promising trophy for boys went to Sam Haven.

The Micro under-10 girls award was won by Emma Crewe while Enzo Fairchild-McKelvie won the boys’ section and was also most improved boy on ratings.

Charger of the year went to Brodie Jakich.
