The winter dance at MORRA Hall last Saturday was sold out ten days before the event and no one went home disappointed, said organizer Jenness Reeve.

All 200 tickets were sold and with the musicians – Al Reeve, Aaron Carpenter, Nikki Ngatai, Neal Ghoshal, Ian Simpson and Full Stop - all donating their time, the total amount raised was almost $7000.

All the money will go towards research into Cystic Fibrosis, a devastating condition which is carried in the genes of one in 25 people. There are four known cases on Waiheke and it was the mother of one, Danielle Farmer, who organized the dance with the help of Jenness.

The non-stop music from 7pm-midnight ensured another sell-out – of Waiheke made beer. Two trips had to be made during the evening for more.

“The feeling of the night was of happiness,” said Jenness. “Everyone had a good time and with 3 August Cystic Fibrosis week it was well timed.”
