The sounds of an orchestra will waft through the Blackpool air when a free concert takes place at Piritahi Marae.
He Puoruoru i te Tahatai, Symphony by the Sea features the Aotea Youth Orchestra and jazz maestro David Paquette, and will raise funds for the marae and Waiheke Adult Literacy.
Island musicians will also play their part at the event which starts at 2.30pm on Saturday, March 20 with a powhiri, followed by the concert.
Food, drink, programme and raffle ticket sales will provide a vehicle for the fundraising, but entry to this family event is free to everyone.
The youth orchestra, which has members aged 13 and upwards, has toured the world.
And its members’ experience will be tested when conductor Paul Harrop is forced to give up his baton to the winner of the silent auction who will get the chance to take the musical reins and conduct the ensemble.
