Five people were caught drink-driving over the holiday period.
On December 23, a 29-year-old man stopped and breathalysed on Ostend Rd was found to have a breath alcohol level of 902mcg, over twice the legal limit of 400mcg for adults.
On Christmas Eve, an 18-year-old woman stopped and breathalysed on Surfdale Rd blew a breath alcohol level of 220mcg. The legal limit for under-20s is zero.
On December 26, a 65-year-old man stopped and breathalysed on Wharf Rd had a breath alcohol level of 881mcg.
On December 30, a 46-year-old man was stopped on The Strand and breathalysed. His breath alcohol level was 625mcg. He has also elected to have a blood sample taken for which police are awaiting the results.
On New Year's Eve, a 34-year-old man stopped on The Esplanade was found to have a breath alcohol level of 682mcg.
