A mysterious experiment has caused some fun for a ferry company, a rugby star and two young actors.
Roadshow Film Distributors had approached Fullers before Christmas to partner in the promotion of American blockbuster film Journey 2 The Mysterious Island.
It stars Michael Caine, `The Rock' Dwayne Johnson and some teen actors from High School Musical. It was released in New Zealand last week.
"There is a volcanic island in the film so we decided to take lines from the film and make our own commercial encouraging people to visit `Rangitoto, the Mysterious Island' and use actors who look like the actual film cast," Fullers marketing manager Delyth Morgan-Coghlan says.
"We got Kevin Mealamu to play The Rock, and Waiheke actors Tim Balme and Forrest Denize were our teenagers."
The commercial spoof is being played at Auckland cinemas before the screening of Journey 2 The Mysterious Island.
"But the highlight of the year so far is when my assistant Stef turned to me and said `Warner Brothers have approved your script'," Ms Morgan-Coghlan says.
