No-one need to be alone this Christmas with the Waiheke Combined Churches' Council and volunteers inviting anyone with no family or friends close by to join them for a traditional Christmas dinner on Christmas Day free of charge.
Older couples with family far away, elderly residents who live alone and younger people with no family close by, including backpackers at the island's hostels, should know there is a festive celebration they can take part in at the Onetangi Community Hall from noon.
Along with Christmas lunch there will be entertainment from Lloyd Whittaker and other performers.
Plus there will be transport available for those who need it.
The day is coming together but there is still room for a few more who want to take part plus volunteers, organiser Geoff Bullock says.
An official invitation will be sent to those who have registered their interest with Rosemary Bullock on 372 3200. Places are limited so entry will be restricted to those with an official invitation.
