A lucky raffle winner showed the true spirit of the season by gifting her prize to the Combined Churches' free Christmas Day lunch at Onetangi Hall.

Stephanie Hessell won the hamper full of festive goodies after buying raffle tickets outside the supermarket in Ostend.

The raffle was organised by the Omiha Welfare and Recreation Society to raise money for the Rocky Bay Hall.

Inside the hamper was a turkey, ham, Christmas pudding and a homemade Christmas cake.

Stephanie already has plans for Christmas Day and says she is happy to pass on her good fortune.

"I don't need the hamper as my family is putting on Christmas."

She says the free lunch was a good place to gift her prize to.

"I was very pleased to win something and I'm lucky I don't need it. This time of year is all about charity so I'm happy to be able to donate it."
