A cannabis home-grower from Waiheke Island called police when thieves stole a three-plant crop.
The "victim" had film of the theft from a camera that had been set up and was able to identify two out of three people concerned.
Warrants enabled a search of both their addresses and police found three plants at each together with some dried cannabis and drug utensils from one of them.
A 17-year old was arrested and a 16-year old is being dealt with by Youth Aid.
They are charged with the theft, cultivating cannabis and possession of utensils for the use of cannabis.
A 36-year old was arrested for obstruction during the search.
The third person has been identified by police and they are looking for him.
Police say the "victim" who reported the theft was given a formal warning.
