Jazz singer joins brass band show

Jazz singer Edwina Thorne will perform with the Trusts Waitakere Brass Band’s Jazz Mania event this Sunday.

The annual cabaret style concert will be on from 5pm at Trusts Stadium in Henderson.

Edwina plays trumpet, percussion, keyboard and sings.

The former Massey High School music teacher is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston.

She has performed in the United State, Europe and the Caribbean.

Musical director Steve Booth is delighted to have Edwina on board for the band’s annual fundraiser.

"Edwina has taught many of our players," Steve says.

"This year’s event is one of our finest programmes and having her taking part is the icing on the cake."
