Garden festival

Colourful floral displays, bonsai trees and composting tips are all part of this weekend’s Blockhouse Bay Garden Festival.

The event takes place in the community centre tomorrow from 1pm to 5pm and on Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

Organiser Graham Edwards says it reflects the area’s keen gardening interest.

"The whole idea is to get the community involved."

Around 25 stalls will include flowers, herbs, vegetables, gardening tips and hanging baskets.

Cake and table decorators will be on hand with advice.

There will also be a raffle, art work, embroidery and food available to purchase.
