Pregnancy isn’t going to stop Beth Reade from tackling the Oxfam Nihotupu Tramline Walk on November 22.

The Avondale 29-year-old will be joined by her partner and five friends on the 6km trail through five historic tunnels, over high dam bridges, and past a number of waterfalls.

The track is only opened one day a year and follows part of the Rainforest Express tramline from the Upper Nihotupu Dam.

The walk is open from 8.30am to 1.30pm on Sunday and costs $7.50 per adult.

All proceeds will be used to assist water sanitation programmes in some of the poorest, drought-stricken countries, helping to prevent diseases such as typhoid, cholera and dysentery.

She says the event is great chance to see one of Auckland’s hidden treasures and donate to a worthy cause.

Tickets cost $7.50 an adult and $2.50 a child. A family pass can be bought online for $15 at www.oxfam.co.nz. Free buses will be running from Oratia School, corner of Shaw and West Coast roads, to the beginning of the walk from 8.30am to 1.30pm and will also drop people back.
