On yer bike!
That's the message from Waitakere city councillor Linda Cooper who is encouraging everyone to take part in this year's West Bike Fest at the Corban Estate Art Centre in Henderson on Saturday.
Mrs Cooper is calling on people to leave their cars at home and cycle to the family orientated event.
"This is a fun way to get people into cycling and encourage our next generation of young riders," she says.
The council-backed day will run from 10am to 2pm and is designed to get more people using pedal power.
It will include a bike decorating contest for children, an obstacle course and free advice on bicycle maintenance and safety.
There will be prizes up for grabs including gift vouchers and cycling accessories.
Go online to www.waitakere.govt.nz for more information.
The fest is designed to coincide with the national Bike Wise Month.
