ROCKET RICO: BMX rider Rico Bearman took home the Junior Sportsperson of the Year award.

The cream of the crop of Waitakere sport rolled into Trusts Stadium on Friday night to celebrate the Unitec Sport Waitakere Excellence Awards.

The evening showcased some of West Auckland's finest sporting talent and highlighted their achievements throughout 2012.

It was a big night for the West End Rowing Club with four of their rowers receiving awards.

WELL-DESERVED: Eric Verdonk receives his Sportsperson of the Year Award.

Mahe Drysdale picked up both the Supreme Award and Sportsman of the Year, Juliette Haigh won the Sportswoman of the Year and Eric Verdonk took the Sportsperson of the Year award.
