There are six weeks to go until this year's Ports of Auckland Round the Bays fun run.
That means it is time to get training.
The March 10 event is co-owned by Fairfax Media, owner of the Western Leader, and the paper's parent company Suburban Newspapers.
Registration fees will be donated to a range of nominated charities including YMCA Camp Adair, Auckland Cystic Fibrosis, Choice Foundation Stand Tall Programme, Variety - The Children's Charity, Make a Wish NZ and Fairfax First Books.
An estimated 70,000 participants are expected to take part in the event and organisers are encouraging them all to register online at roundthebays.co.nz, where a training schedule is also available.
Official entrants can select the charities they wish their fees to go to and are invited to set their own fundraising targets through FundraiseOnline.
"Adding the FundraiseOnline option gives us a chance to raise even more and is a great way for business teams or branches to compete against each other to fundraise as part of their event build-up," Fairfax Media marketing and communications manager Nicola Igusa says.
The run starts at 9.30am and the entry fee is $10 for children (16 and under) and $15 for adults.
