Zanthe Watson and Colin Prinn co-founders of the New Zealand Acrobatics Festival held from April 21-23 in Auckland.

Acrobats can flip, jump and cartwheel to their hearts' content at an upcoming festival.

The New Zealand Acrobatics Festival hosted by Acro Connect would be held from on April 21 at Flow Academy in Albany and April 22-23 at the YMCA Massey Leisure Centre.

The festival hosted classes teaching partner yoga, duo and trio acrobatics, handstands, contortion, tumbling and more.

Co-founder of the festival Zanthe Watson, said the classes would be taken by New Zealand and Australian teachers.

The Flow Academy teacher said she co-founded the event with Colin Prinn, and they were expecting around 50 people.

She, and a few others, had been flying over to Australia to get training and decided it was better to bring the teachers to New Zealand and get the education to everyone, she said.

The festival would have incredible teachers who were inspiring in the community, Watson said.

"It's not something you'll find anywhere else in New Zealand."

The Te Atatu resident said the festival was open to all ages or levels and beginners should come along and give it a go.

Watson said they had expected only friends to come along but were surprised by how many people reached out from New Zealand and Australia.

The acrobat said they had kept numbers down for their first event but planned to "go bigger and better".

Watson said she had been doing circus as a hobby for most of her life.

One of her favourite circus act was duo acrobatics which is balancing on top of another person, she said.
