Impressive air, big jumps and 180 degree spins were just a few skills on display at the MGP Sport Waitakere Interschool Scooter Competition at the weekend.

More than 20 competitors from Auckland primary, intermediate and secondary schools showcased their tricks at the competition held at the Sport Waitakere skate bowl on November 16.

The inaugural competition gives students the chance to be active in a safe and fun environment.

Eight West Auckland schools including Massey, Pomaria and Don Buck primary schools, Glen Eden, Blockhouse Bay and Henderson intermediate schools and Massey High School competed for trophies.

Pomaria Primary School pupil Mana David won best individual for year 5 and 6 pupils with Massey Primary School named the overall school winner.

Henderson Intermediate School pupil Christian Morgan was awarded best individual for the year 7 and 8 group while Lincoln Heights School was the overall winner.

Massey High School won an array of awards with student Emmanuel Akarana winning best individual for the year 9 and 10 group, Brandon Hill taking the top placing for the year 11, 12 and 13 group and the school winning the overall secondary school title.
