Mata, 12, and Junior, 5, Smith from Titirangi are among 30 children and their caregivers back on dry land after taking part in the first ever Red Boats/Suburban Newspapers Xmas cruise.
Readers nominated kids from all over the Auckland Region who they believed were deserving of a day out on the Waitemata Harbour.
Children chosen for the cruises were aged from 3 to 13 and enjoyed a series of treats during the excursion - including a link up with the police launch and its very special passenger - Santa, complete with gifts.
Organisers says the response to the promotion was exceptional and hope to repeat the exercise next year.
Should we raise the retirement age?
