Bronson Price is heading for the big stage rather than just dreaming of it.
The 22-year-old and his band Third 3ye are among the line-up for this year's St Jerome's Laneway Festival.
The New Lynn resident, known as MC MelowDownz, says he is grateful for the opportunity.
"I used to go to the rap concerts back when I was young and dream about doing it myself.
"I'm happy and proud to be playing and I'm still buzzing out about it.
"We are all excited and can't wait to show Laneway what we have," Price says.
Third 3ye, meaning self-intuition, formed 18 months ago and their music is purely internet-based.
Members are currently working on their first album, On3ness, which will also be available online.
Mr Price says Third 3ye is an open-minded hip-hop group whose aim is to spread a positive message.
"We're trying to put the point out there that it should be about love, unity and peace," he says.
"We want to bring the unity back into hip-hop."
The group is one of several Kiwi acts chosen for the festival.
"We've got other music friends and we are part of a music collective called Young, Gifted and Broke," Mr Price says.
The music collective's curator Tom Scott was tasked with selecting artists for the festival and he chose Third 3ye.
While the upcoming festival will be the group's biggest gig to date, they have toured the country and playing to supporters. Along with MC MelowDownz, MC Angelo King, DJ-producer DJ TORU and internationally-acclaimed producer Ben Jamin' make up Third 3ye.
