A former West Auckland music teacher will be showcasing his singing chops alongside an opera star.
Dame Malvina Major and James Ioelu will be performing at Massey High School on Sunday.
Ioelu taught contemporary voice and piano at Massey High School before he travelled to study at the Manhattan School of Music to complete his masters in opera.
He was also the latest winner of the New Zealand Aria competition.
The school's choir Sublimitas will also get the opportunity to sing with Major with music played on the school's hand-made Fazioli 228 piano.
Tickets are available from the school at $40 for adults and $20 for students with proceeds going to the Dame Malvina Major Foundation.
The foundation promotes young opera singers which Ioelu himself has been supported by.
The concert begins at 4pm at Massey High School, 274 Don Buck Rd.
Contact the school on 831 0500 for more information.
