Hard-fought win

Despite heavy rain all week, the seventh game of the season for Hibiscus Coast cricketers got under way only half an hour late at Te Atatu.
Having lost the toss against rivals Waitakere, the Coast were sent in to bat on what was a firm but green-looking wicket.
After an indifferent start, openers Tim Sheldon and Tyler Stead batted steadily to accumulate their third 100-run partnership of the season with scores of 77 and 79.
The Coast was dismissed for 245 from the 45 overs with Bevan Snookes being the pick of the bowlers.
With a large total to defend, there was a lack of intensity in the field by Coast as the Waitakere’s openers put on an easy 73 runs.
With a good catch from Cameron Rust, the Coast finally started to make inroads getting Waitakere nine down and 23 runs short of the total at the end of their innings for a hard-fought victory.
Elliot Owen and Andy McDonald took three wickets apiece.
This weekend will see the coasters first game on Victor Eaves in a two-day game which promises to be a good test of the relaid pitch
