It was a true captain's knock from Cornwall's Craig Pryor as he led his side into the Jeff Crowe Cup quarter-finals with a blazing unbeaten 137 against Papatoetoe on Sunday.

The former Auckland player also starred with the ball, taking 3-50, as Papatoetoe compiled a competitive 246 during their playoff match at Cornwall Park.

But Pryor's heroics, along with a valuable 52 from Sam Anderson, ensured it would be the most comfortable of wins for Cornwall, as they cruised to a nine-wicket victory.

In what was a good weekend for Cornwall, the club also moved to the top of the White Section in the Hedley Howarth Trophy two-day competition, thanks to a first innings win against East Coast Bays at Cornwall Park.

An impressive late spell of bowling from Pryor, 3-9, saw the visitors fall 24 runs shy of their target, before Cornwall batted again, compiling bonus points, with an unlucky Anderson dismissed for 94.

Meanwhile, in the Blue Section Tom Henderson's 6-83 against Papatoetoe ensured Eden Roskill a first innings victory and a place in the top three at Papatoetoe Rec.

Papatoetoe got their run chase off to a great start with Sarvajith DR, 96no, before Henderson regularly removed batsmen at the other end, reducing them to 231 in reply to Eden Roskill's 295.

Vivek Trichy, 64, Azhar Abbas, 64, and Scott Ellis, 50no, helped Eden Roskill pile on the batting bonus points as they dominated day two.

Unfortunately for Grafton they continued what's been a difficult season, suffering a
first innings loss to Howick Pakuranga at Lloyd Elsmore Park.

In reply to Howick's first innings of 312, the visitors could only manage 159.

The home side continued to dominate during their second turn at bat with a dominant 231-0 to finish off the match.
