Former Central Districts left-arm quick Mitchell McClenaghan marked his debut Ford Trophy one-day match for Auckland with a match-winning bowling performance in a lop-sided match against Northern Districts in Auckland today.

On the same Colin Maiden Park that was a batsmen's dream during the Twenty20 competition, McClenaghan ripped through the ND batting lineup as the visitors were dismissed for a dismal 99 in just 30.4 overs.

He knocked the top off the ND order with three wickets in his first eight balls and didn't let up, ending with 5-30 from seven overs as the visitors succumbed rather meekly.

Daryl Mitchell's 38 was the only knock to top extras, which numbered 14.

So brief was their innings that Auckland were able to knock off the runs before a lunch break was required, the hosts reaching 100-2 in just 16.5 overs to win by eight wickets and confirm their place atop the points table.

Anaru Kitchen led the way with an unbeaten 55.

Meanwhile, a maiden domestic century by talented teenager Tom Latham helped Canterbury reach an impressive 306-8 in their match with Wellington at the Basin Reserve.

Latham, 19, finished on 130 from 119 balls, but he had a tough start to his innings before hitting 14 fours and three sixes.

Mark Gillespie rocked the Wizrds top order.

When the former Black Cap started the ninth over, Canterbury were cruising at 39-0.

When he finished it they were 40-3 and George Worker, Peter Fulton and Shanan Stewart were all back in the pavillion.

Latham faced Gillespie's hat-trick ball and initially played the supporting role to the in-form Rob Nicol, who was eventually trapped leg before by Harry Boam for 55.

Gillespie was the home side's best taking 4-52 from 10 overs.

When the Firebirds begin their chase, they will need 6.14 runs an over for victory.

In Invercargill, rain has played a major part in the match between Otago and Central Districts, who were 34-3 when the precipitation arrived after just eight overs.
