A complaint has been made to police after an incident involving former Kiwis and Warriors league coach Frank Endacott.

Sunday News has been told the incident occurred at a property in Endacott's north Canterbury town of Rangiora.

A confidential source said Endacott was involved in a confrontation with another man.

Endacott confirmed an incident had occurred, but did not want to go into details.

"It's a neighbourhood thing," Endacott told Sunday News on Friday.

"There was a minor incident that has been blown out of proportion. I can tell you now I am not damaged," Endacott said.

"But I can't say a thing about it.

"I can't say anything about it because it is in the hands of the boys in blue."

Endacott said he had not been charged by police.

A source who told Sunday News he witnessed the incident, said he had made a statement to police.

Sergeant Colin Stewart, of Rangiora police, confirmed a "complaint" had been made to police.

Stewart said no charges had been laid and he was "not at liberty" to discuss the matter, including whether or not police were investigating.

"I wouldn't even want to talk about it at the moment," he said.

Endacott, whose nickname in league circles is "Happy Frank", coached Canterbury from 1989 to 1993, and the Kiwis from 1995 to 2000.

He led New Zealand to a 22-16 win over the Kangaroos in the 1998 Anzac test at North Harbour Stadium, Albany.

Endacott coached the Auckland Warriors from 1997 to 1998, the Wigan Warriors from 1999 to 2001 and Widnes Vikings from 2004 to 2005.

In 2000, he was named Super League's Coach of the Year. He is now a leading league player agent.
