Marina Erakovic has pulled off a superb victory by beating second seed Sofia Arvidsson from Sweden 6-1 3-6 6-3 in the second round of the WTA tournament in Sweden.

In a rematch of last year's final at this tournament, Erakovic rook revenge for losing that time by recording one of her best wins of the year so far, to defeat the world No 38.

Erakovic needs to have a good run in Memphis this week as she is defending 200 of her ranking points and making it to the quarterfinals means she has already accumulated 70 points.

While this match lasted 1 hour 47 minutes, it did look like being a blowout with Erakovic taking the first set in no time at all. The world No 71 won every single point when she got her first serve in, while she was able to dominate her opponent's second serve.

The second set went with serve until Erakovic was broken in the seventh and ninth games, but the New Zealander got a break early in the final set.

Games continued to go with serve until the ninth game when Arvidsson was broken again to set up a quarterfinal match between Erakovic and the big hitting American Jamie Hampton, who defeated compatriot Coco Vandeweghe 6-3 6-0 in her second round match.
