Organisers of an Auckland fashion show say its plus-sized clothes will cater to women of "Poly-fabulous" proportions.
The True South fashion show in Mangere this Friday was prompted by a gap in the market.
The plus-sized clothes being modelled will have a Pacific flavour.
"We've encouraged designers to create fashion for women of 'Poly-Fabulous' proportions and the feedback we've had on the show has been fantastic," says Leisa Sitene, Auckland Council's manager of arts and culture.
"Mainstream magazines and fashion stores don't usually cater for the women we are designing for, and we want to try and challenge attitudes because there is definitely a market for these garments."
The show will feature the I love Lissy range and will launch the new label RastaLee.
Singers Rosita Vai, who won New Zealand Idol in 2005, and Bella Kalolo, a finalist at the 2012 Pacific Music Awards, will entertain along with Pacific dancers.
Tickets for the event, to be held at Mangere Arts Centre, are $20 from the Event Finder website.
