The list is out and this year's New Zealand Fashion Week is dominated by North Island designers.

Across four days, from September 4, more than 40 designers will showcase their Autumn/Winter 2013 collections at a number of venues across Auckland.

Among the 40 confirmed designers are Kiwi powerhouses Huffer, Juliette Hogan, Zambesi and Trelise Cooper.

However only one, Dunedin's Company of Strangers, is from the South Island.  Among the notable southern omissions are Carlson and Nom D, who will miss their second fashion week in two years.

Australian designer Charlie Brown was named in the line-up last month.

NZFW managing director Pieter Stewart said she was excited to confirm a strong list of designers, and even after 12 years at the helm of the event, she sites its ever-changing line-up of designers as one of its defining characteristics.

Along with the big-name shows, local up-and-coming designers will show in the New Generation Show, which offers emerging talent a platform for their first NZFW collection.

Other highlights of the sartorial week include the Miromoda Fashion Design Competition which invites Maori designers to showcase their talents, and the New Zealand Weddings Magazine Collection.
