Nitro Circus wows Wynyard Quarter
A grown man, a giant rubber band and a trike combined to create a stunt like no other on the Auckland waterfront this morning.
Worldwide extreme sport sensations Nitro Circus hit Auckland's Wynyard Quarter with a stunt to showcase their upcoming New Zealand tour and new 3D movie, due to be released in November.
Dubbed the "freedom flyers" stunt, US action sports star Dusty Wygle mounted a bike - resembling a kid's trike - and was catapulted up a ramp by a bungee-cord, "Angry Bird-style" into a human pyramid.
Despite a strong wind, the stunt went off without a hitch, with all six men involved walking away uninjured.
There was even a famous Kiwi face in the pyramid firing line, with the stunt being filmed for an episode of TV3's Jono and Ben Show.
The Nitro Circus band of daredevils will be back in New Zealand for five shows from January next year.
Last time they were here in 2011, they were the most successful touring act of the year, selling more than 100,000 tickets.
