Double Grammy Award-winning duo Civil Wars will play two New Zealand shows in March next year.

The American pair will bring their brand of melodic chamber folk and pop to Wellington's St James Theatre and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Auckland.

Joy Williams and John Paul White, the talent behind The Civil Wars, first met in 2009 at a writing camp in Nashville, Tennessee.

Since then they have amassed a multitude of honours and hundreds of thousands of album sales in three short years.

Their debut album Barton Hollow caught the attention of critics across the globe, featuring in the 'Best Albums of 2011' editorials of Time Magazine, The Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal and Rolling Stone among others.
