Brad Pitt says "the time is nigh" when it comes to marrying Angelina Jolie.

The couple have been together since 2005 and raise six children, but only got engaged earlier this year. They had previously insisted they wouldn't tie the knot until it was legal for same sex couples to wed, but after pressure from their youngsters they decided to make things official.

Pitt has now hinted they have set a date, although he's keeping the details close to his chest.

"I am getting more pressure from my kids, and it is something I want to do within their lifetime, but I also feel like the time has come," he is quoted as saying by People.

"The time is nigh. It's soon. I got a good feeling about it."

It's thought the pair will marry at their estate in France, with rumours that Pitt has made many of the arrangements. He is said to have organised food from local sources and a special wine to mark the occasion, although he insists the plans aren't as far along as people think.

"I don't know what's going to happen in two weeks. I certainly don't know what the New Year is going to bring!" he laughed to Extra. "We may just tape it and then you can air it!"

He also revealed that a venue has been thought about but not settled on. Jolie and Pitt have been jetting around the world due to their work commitments lately so have found it difficult to choose the best place to exchange vows.

"We are both migratory workers," he explained "It will be a matter of convenience location-wise."
