LeAnn Rimes insists she wasn't drunk while performing on US X Factor.

The troubled singer has been feuding with her husband Eddie Cibrian's ex-wife Brandi Glanville recently, who's accused her of being "unstable".

Rimes was admitted to rehab for exhaustion and stress earlier this year.

After an awkward performance with Carly Rose Sonenclar on the TV talent show, speculation is rife that Rimes was under the influence throughout the How Do I Live duet.

Rimes denies this and attributes the weirdness to Sonenclar's naivete.

"I was trying to help this 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song," she told TMZ.

The country singer's lawyer Larry Stein confirms his client's statements to the website, saying Rimes was being considerate of th young performer's nerves.

"LeAnn was not performing the way she would normally perform, because she was on stage with a young girl," Larry said.

"There have been a lot of untrue things said by others and it feeds into this sort of thing."

Rimes pursued a relationship with Cibrian while they were both still legally married.

The couple wed in 2011 and their relationship with Cibrian's ex-wife has been troubled ever since.
