You may know him as the ghost chips boy from the popular anti-drink driving ad but Darcy-Ray Flavell-Hudson has started out in a more sombre role.

As a nine-year-old Flavell-Hudson played young Wiremu in Michael Bennett's short film Kerosene Creek. He now features in New Zealand movie Mt Zion alongside Australian Idol winner and X-Factor judge Stan Walker and Temuera Morrison, opening in theatres today.

In cooperation with the New Zealand Film Commission and NZ on Screen we're bringing you Kerosene Creek as your Waitangi Day short film today.

In a hot river (Kerosene Creek), running through a deep forest a group of teenagers party. One couple bring their younger siblings, Jayde (Atarangi Manley) and Mu (Flavell-Hudson) who are best mates. It's a volatile and incendiary mix - like kerosene itself.

It starts off a day like many others. But what they see, and what happens in that place of heat and steam will change everything - forever. Later, tragedy occurs and Jayde faces lost innocence and the ritual of tangi while bearing a secret.
