Sofía Vergara "loved" dissecting dead bodies at dental school.

The 40-year-old actress didn't always dream of becoming a Hollywood star. When she was younger it was medicine that intrigued her and she spent time studying oral health.

"Well, I went to dental school for a while. I didn't get to the part where you're actually working in people's mouths, but I took a lot of chemistry and science to learn how the human body works," she explained to Us Weekly magazine. "I even learned to dissect cadavers - I loved it!"

Although she was interested in medicine in her younger years, it's not really the case now. The star doesn't spent time watching hospital shows on TV, explaining she usually lets her fiancé Nick Loeb select the programme.

"I don't watch much TV, but my fiancé likes to watch police shows before bed, especially Law & Order and Blue Bloods," she said. "I love that one because Tom Selleck is so handsome!"

Vergara portrays Gloria in comedy show Modern Family and her character has recently had a baby. The actress has previously spoken about how uncomfortable wearing a fake pregnancy belly was and she is thrilled not to have to bother with it anymore.

Aside from that she is thoroughly enjoying being on the show.

"It was amazing to finally get rid of that belly!" she laughed. "We were shooting outside in the heat and the plastic would stick to my skin. But I hope the show continues for a long time. It's paying for my son's college education!"
