An Auckland film-maker is hoping for runaway success with his new movie.
Jordan Dodson's short film, Runaways, has been selected to screen at the Montreal International Film Festival.
The short, by Candlelit Pictures, will play in the World Competition, and will compete for both the top honour and the Jury Prize.
"It's weird to be taken so seriously, it's amazing to think that a pile of French Canadians are going to watch our little film, it's just surreal," Dodson, the director, said.
Runaways stars kiwi actors Donogh Rees and Stephen Ure and introduces Mitchell Hageman, 14, and his younger brother Thomas Hageman, six, to the screen.
The film is about the impact two runaways have on an ageing couple's strained relationship.
The Montreal World Film Festival was founded in 1977.
