A man suffered serious injuries after a he was crushed beneath a 500kg piece of machinery yesterday in Orere Point, Auckland.
The man, in his 60s, was riding on a trailer attached to a ute to try and steady the 500kg lathe machine.
He has serious pelvic injuries and an ankle fracture after the trailer flipped, crushing the man beneath the lathe and trailer.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter arrived at 10.30am Tuesday to find the machine had been lifted off the man who was now lying on his side in severe pain.
He was given heavy pain relief and a pelvic splint applied before being transported to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.
He is currently stable.
