Stuff has again been voted Best News Site in the NetGuide Web Awards.
Stuff editor Mark Stevens said the award was recognition for "not just the Stuff team, we've got the weight of the Fairfax newsroom behind us".
"We're all journalists and it's breaking news that gets us up each day."
Fairfax group digital editor Sinead Boucher said the best thing about the win was that it was voted for by the public.
"We've got a really loyal readerbase and what they like is we're national in our breadth of coverage, there's a strong focus on breaking news and there's a fun element too."
"We try to be really modern and at the same time a credible news site, with news from all around the country."
The websites of 3 News, Yahoo! New Zealand, NZ Herald and TVNZ were finalists in the category.
Stuff was also a finalist for Overall Best Site, which was won by online retailer Mighty Ape.
Two of Stuff’s blogs were also recognised at the awards. Pets blog Four Legs Good, written by Nick Barnett, was voted Best Blog and wedding blog Ready or Knot, written by Greer McDonald, was a finalist in the category.
The awards were presented tonight at the Hilton Hotel in Auckland.
More than 200,000 votes were cast in 27 categories in this year's awards, organisers said.
Stuff was named Best News Site at last year's Net Guide Awards and Best Media Site in 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2004, 2003 and 2002.
In 2010 and 2008 Stuff was named Site of the Year.
