'I feel sick': Upper Hutt man claims he found maggots in his Muffin Break wrap
It wasn't until he had eaten halfway through his honey soy chicken wrap from Muffin Break that Brock Mullany noticed it was crawling with what he says were maggots.
Mullany and partner Keegan Sutton bought the wrap shortly after 10am on Tuesday from the Muffin Break outlet in the Upper Hutt mall.
"I'm a regular customer, I go there every day," Mullany said.
"I ate halfway through the wrap before I noticed them. It's disgusting, I feel sick."
Sutton, who also ate some of the wrap, says he was left in tears at realising what he had eaten.
"He was really disturbed because he is frightened of bugs, and anything unhygienic," Mullany said.
"Trust me," Sutton said. "I'm not eating for at least a week after this."
The pair contacted the owner of the cafe, but Mullany said the man told him he would look into the matter when he got back from a trip to Tauranga.
"He didn't seem to care his business sold us a wrap with maggots in it.
"He told us he had his logs which would back up the fact he had audited his food.
"I won't ever be eating there again."
Muffin Break Upper Hutt did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday but later aplogised.
