Former Warriors co-owner and PR guru Malcolm Boyle has died.

Public relations guru and league supporter Malcolm Boyle will be remembered as a "good bastard", Sir Peter Leitch says.

Boyle, who was 66, had a 40-year career in public relations in New Zealand, after beginning his working life as a journalist.

He founded Baldwin Boyle Group (BBG) in 1981, with Brenda Baldwin, and later Star PR.

A keen rugby league follower, he bought into the Warriors with Graham Lowe in 1998, in a period of financial turmoil for the club.

Boyle was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and retired from his role at Star in 2012.

He continued to offer consultancy services to the firm and clients, and also penned commentary on league for local media.

Sir Peter said it was a sad loss to the league community. He had had a sterling career as a player and was a "good bastard" for his work for the local league fraternity, he said.

"He's gone to a better place now."
