Drone video reveals Apple's "space-ship like" new Campus 2 for 13,000 workers in California.

Apple's new core - a self-sustaining headquarters for 13,000 workers looks like it's been plucked straight from a science fiction movie for the California desert.

The latest drone flyover video of the Apple Campus 2  in Cupertino reveals that the facility is almost complete.

The main circular building is nearly 2km in circumference and will house 13,000 Apple employees.

The curved solar panels, said to be the largest in the world, now cover the roof of nearly all the buildings and parking space. Work has also begun on landscaping.

Apple senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller previously told Mashable the new home was designed to spark collaboration. 

"[T]his is going to be the most incredible collaborative space that's been created," Schiller said.

Apple CEO Tim Cook says employees will start moving into the facility in January.
