The home of National Fieldays, Mystery Creek Events Centre in Waikato, is looking forward to opening its brand new headquarters in January for staff to move in.
The $3.5 million building will signal a happy new year for site owners, the National Fieldays Society. The not-for-profit society hosts a range of successful events every year, including the flagship National Fieldays event and the relatively new national horse event Equidays.
Spokeswoman Vicki Annison said the new building sits at the top of the 113-hectare site, at the main public entrance, Gate 2.
The 1050 square-metre headquarters was designed by architects Chow Hill, and will house up to 50 staff from January, with room for further expansion. It will also house society members and volunteers, and can host up to 100 guests. An official opening is likely in February.
‘‘The facility will meet all our business requirements,’’ Annison said. ‘‘It’s going to be a vibrant space that will reflect the dynamic environment our events business operates in. It will also have magnificent views out over the events centre site and towards the Waikato River.’’
