The Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter landed at an adjacent paddock in Te Kauwhata.

A teenager is in hospital after he slammed his motorcycle into a sheep on a Waikato farm.

The boy was riding his bike at high speed on the Te Kauwhata farm on Tuesday night when he smashed into one of the woolly flock, the Auckland-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter said in a statement.

He went over the bike's handlebars and onto the pasture.

The crew was called at 6.27pm to help the boy, who suffered a leg injury, on the farm in the area's foothills.

They landed at an adjacent farm and treated the teen.

He was then flown to Waikato Hospital in a moderate condition.

"I'm unsure of the condition of the sheep..." the rescue helicopter statement said.
