Winton dairy farmer Wiremu Reid has won the 2014 Ahuwhenua Young Maori Dairy Farmer Award.

Reid, a lower order sharemilker, was one of two Southland finalists in the awards. The other finalists were Gore herd manager James Matheson and Waikato 50/50 sharemilker Joshua MacDonald.

The award was announced at an event in Tauranga attended by more than 850 people.

Taranaki Maori trust Te Rua O Te Moko Ltd won the 2014 Ahuwhenua Trophy Maori Excellence in Farming Award.
