Lamb prices unchanged at Canterbury sales

Prime ewe prices rose $2 to $3 a head at livestock sales at Canterbury Agricultural Park, in Christchurch, this week.

The best prime ewes made $105-$130 with the odd sale to $136.

The prime and store lamb markets were unchanged with top prime lambs at $130-$140 with the odd sale to $147 and the best store lambs at $88-$95.

Prime heifer prices eased 5c/kg and steer, cow and and bull values were firm.

Prime lambs

Values: The prime lamb market was firm on last week. Heavy lambs made $130 - $140 with the odd sale to $147, medium $115 - $124 and lighter $100 - $110.

Values: The market was firm for a medium yarding of store lambs. Heavy lambs made $88 - $95, medium $72 - $85 and lighter $60 - $70.

Prime cattle

Values: In a large yarding the market for steers, cows and and bulls was firm and heifers eased by five cents a kilogram. Steers made 225c/kg to 235c with sales to 242c, heifers 210c to 227c with sales to 236c, cows 130c to 155c with sales to 168c and bulls 170c to 200c.
