Ewes up $3-$5 at Christchurch livestock sales

High demand for prime ewes reflected a $3-$5 price increase.

The prime ewe market carried on gathering pace with a $3-$5 price hike at  livestock sales at Canterbury Agricultural Park, in Christchurch, this week.

Top ewes made $130-$140 and reached as much as $150.

Heavier prime lambs found their ceiling at $130-$145, but other prices for weight grades maintained last week's level.

Good store lambs made $100-$108.

Prime lambs

Values: Heavy lambs were back in value while all other weights remained on a par with the previous week. Good lambs made $130-$145, medium $115-$128 and lighter $105-$112.
