Prime ewe prices up at Canterbury sales

Prime ewes rose $2 to $3 a head on the back of stronger demand at livestock sales at Canterbury Agricultural Park, in Christchurch, this week.

Top ewes made $95 - $105, while prime lambs were unchanged from last week with heavy lambs at $120 to $125.

The best store lambs made $70 - $74.

Top end prime cattle received excellent demand and improved by 5c/kg.

Prime lambs

Values: In a good yarding the market remained on a par with the last sale. Heavy lambs made $120 - $125, good $114 - $118, medium $100 - $110 and lighter $85 - $95.

Values: A smaller yarding of lambs met good demand from strong gallery of buyers. Top lambs made $70 - $74 with a top price of $78, medium $60 - $68 and lighter $45 - $57.
