Prime ewe prices rise on light Coalgate yarding

Prime ewes were up $2 to $3 a head in a light yarding at livestock sales at Coalgate last week.

Prime lambs

Values: In a smaller yarding of prime lambs because of weather conditions a premium was paid for shorn lambs. Tops made $115 - $124 and good $100 - $114.

Prime ewes

Values: There was a lighter yarding of ewes and medium to top ewes were up by $2 to $3 a head. Tops made $100 - $115, good $85 - $99, medium $75 - $84 and light $60 - $74.

Store lambs

Values: Top store lambs made $77, good $60 and medium $50.

Sales included: Mt Oakden Station (Rakaia Gorge) 101 lambs at $50 - $60, TW & RM Marett P/Ship (Ashburton) 84 lambs at $68 - $77.

Prime cattle

Values: In a small yarding prices eased on the previous week. Steers made $1.84/kg to $2.05, heifers $1.95 - $2.16, cows $1.44 to $1.70, bulls $1.50 - $2.

Values: The store cattle yarding was light. The 18-month heifers made $700 - $845, mixed sex calves $365 and bull calves $230 to $280.

Sales included: Brooksdale Station (Springfield) 50 18-month heifers at $700 - $800, Burmont Holdings (Rakaia) 9 bull calves from $220 - $280.
