Joan Withers is to become an independent director of the ANZ Bank from July 1.
Withers is the chairwoman of Auckland International Airport and Mighty River Power, and is deputy chairwoman of TVNZ. She is the former CEO of Fairfax Media and The Radio Network.
The appointment has been approved by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
